Advertising case study 3: Audrey Hepburn Galaxy advert

 1) Why is the advert set in the 1950s? What audience pleasure does this provide? 

Nostalgia .

2) Which of Propp's character types are represented in the advert? (Note: just choose two or three character types that are definitely used in the advert - it does not use them all). 

The chauffeur is first the hero then the helper and the women is the heroine then the hero after she is in the car .

3) How does the advert's narrative (story) follow Todorov's theory of equilibrium?

The bus is the equilibrium , the market and stoppage is the disequilibrium and the heroine (Audrey Hepburn) going in the car is the new  equilibrium .

4) Who is Audrey Hepburn?

A famous actor and model from the 1950's and 60's .

5) Why did Galaxy select Audrey Hepburn for this advert? 

To give the adult audience nostalgia and to relate to the advert and she elegant and is dressed and try's to look luxurious .

A relationship formed by a composer . 

7) What Audrey Hepburn film is suggested in this advert and how is this effect created (e.g. mise-en-scene - CLAMPS: costume, lighting, actors, make-up, props, setting)?

 Roman holiday ; which is a romantic film where an american found love in Rome , Italy , they brang back this movie by using a green screen to bring back Audrey Hepnurn and the advert was set it in the time the movie was made .

8) What are the connotations of Audrey Hepburn and celebrity in this advert? 

That everyone likes them as people were all smiling at her and a man let her in his car and treated her nicely and with respect .


9) What representations of gender can you find in this advert?

Women being objectified as 3 men all tried to flirt with her .

10) Are stereotypes reinforced or subverted in the Galaxy advert? Give examples.

Reinforced  sexism by making the women look perfect as she was dressed up and wearing make up , another stereotype they reinforced is they used slow old cars and mopeheads with bad engines .
