  1) Why is the advert set in the 1950s? What audience pleasure does this provide?  Nostalgia . 2) Which of Propp's character types are represented in the advert? (Note: just choose two or three character types that are definitely used in the advert - it does not use them all).  The chauffeur is first the hero then the helper and the women is the heroine then the hero after she is in the car . 3) How does the advert's narrative (story) follow Todorov's theory of equilibrium?   1) What does BAME stand for? Black Asian and minority ethnic .  2) Why is there a need for blood in the BAME community?  Only 3% of blood donators are in the BAME community and people in the BAME community need blood that came from people with similiar backgrounds . 3) What does this advert want people to do once they've seen it (the 'call to action')? They want people that are part of the BAME community to donate blood . 4) Why is the advert called 'Represent'? They are trying to make the BAME community make it feel like it represents them so they are interested . 5) Why have the producers chosen famous BAME celebrities to feature in the advert? Give an example of three well-known people who appear in the advert and why they are famous - make sure you  write their names and spell them accurately .   1) What year was the advert produced? 1955 2) How were women represented in most adverts in the 1950s? As housewives . 3) How does the heading message ('OMO makes whites bright') and typography promote the product ? It has a big exciting font which will usually catch the audiences eye also it advertises the product and is a interesting slogan and it is repeated many times so it will invade the readers mind . 4) Analyse the mise-en-scene in the advert (CLAMPS): how is costume, make-up and placement of the model used to suggest women's role in society? The model in the magazine is representing the CLAMPS as she is wearing a made like dress has good lighting as if she is in the sun is the actor is wearing makeup and is hanging clothes she is also outside . For Q3 you’ve made specific reference to the Reveal cover which is positive (try and name the celebrities or use the wording from the cover where possible though). You also show an understanding of the Tatler target audience of upper-class wealthy women. Finally, you’ve caught up with the missing work on your blog which shows a very positive attitude – well done! EBI: For Q1, you need to answer the question – what is a convention?
